Come and join us
Tapestry Lunch Club is a not-for-profit social enterprise offering high quality small group day care support for people across Sussex and the surrounding areas. Our service is primarily for those who are socially isolated and may be experiencing symptoms associated with early dementia such as memory loss.
We believe that understanding our clients fully is a critical part of a host’s role and therefore participation in our dementia support awareness training is a vital part of coming on board. In addition we would want you to expand your knowledge of emergency first aid, food safety & hygiene, and manual handling – all of which we support you to complete. We also conduct an Enhanced DBS check of you if you do not already have one.
We are looking for kind, versatile and empathetic people to join the Tapestry Lunch Club team.
We would like you to:
- Be sensitive, empathetic, intelligent and adaptable to all particularly older people
- Have flexibility and able to think on your feet
- Have a can-do attitude and a great sense of humour
- Be committed to promoting people’s independence
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Physically fit, lots of energy and be emotionally robust
You will also engage with your guests’ families and friends. As a host you will become an important anchor point during what can be an unsettled period in peoples’ lives. The building of the a relationship between host, guest, client and family members adds a welcome element of continuity and helps in strengthening stability at this time.
