Work with us
Come and join us
Tapestry Lunch Club is a not-for-profit social enterprise offering high quality small group day support for people across Sussex, Surrey and the surrounding areas. Our service is primarily for those who are socially isolated, lonely or those who may have concerns around memory loss and as a result may be losing confidence in socialising in larger groups.
As a host, not only will you be central to your guests, but also involved with their wider family and friends, and so become a vital part of all their lives. It is of paramount importance to Tapestry Lunch Club that these strong bonds are created, you will become the glue, so that everyone feels comfortable and content and a sense of security and support is established early on.
Working as a Host
We are looking for kind, compassionate and resourceful people to join the Tapestry Lunch Club team.
We are looking for people who are:
- Thoughtful, understanding, caring, astute, positive and warm with all – particularly older people
- Have flexibility and able to think on your feet
- Have a can-do attitude and a great sense of humour
- Be committed to promoting people’s independence
- Ability to work on own initiative and be dependable
- Physically fit, lots of energy and be emotionally robust
We have had to adjust some of the day due to COVID-19, and have conducted a full risk assessment to ensure both our guests and hosts stay safe. In principal, the day remains the same but hygiene and social distancing are now at the fore front of our minds. We can share all our new procedures, hopefully temporarily, with you. Please email email@example.com for further information of how we can and intend to work safely.

Working with us as a Volunteer
As a consequence of COVID-19, we are having to come up with alternative ways of working. Working within Government guidelines, we will be open for business, welcoming our current and new guests back to our small group lunches. We are looking for volunteer to join us (expenses will be covered). Volunteers can work along side our hosts within the host’s home, engaging and interacting with the guests or as support drivers. Other ways you can help as a volunteer: leaflet distribution, cooking support/menu ideas, helping with activity afternoons/providing creative ideas, preparing the host’s home and kitchen pre-lunch or helping with post lunch cleaning.
As a volunteer driver, you will use your own car (5 door) in order to transport a maximum of 3 guests (as per current COVID government guidelines), have a full driving licence plus business car insurance. Drivers will transport guests within a 6-8 miles radius of the host’s home within the local communities of West Sussex and Surrey. Driving duties will be once or twice a week and hours less than a couple in the morning (approximately 10.00-11.00/11.30am depending on guests’ postcodes) and a couple in the afternoon (3.30-5pm). Our drivers need to be kind, and caring and have the flexibility to think on your feet, ability to work on own initiative, be physically fit with lots of energy. You will also build a relationship with your guests’ families and friends.
